Manchester's emotional well-being and behaviour strategy 2007-2012 provides an overview for all who are working to improve behaviour and attendance in Manchester schools.

National programme for Specialist Leaders of Behaviour & Attendance
The NPSLBA provides leadership training in behaviour and attendance (B&A). The programme offers qualifications and creates career pathways for the growing number of specialists, not only teachers and not only in schools, who work in the field of B&A. See the menu to the left.
The Behaviour and Attendance Strategy
Self evaluation The initial review and in depth audits are intended to help schools recognise their good practice and build on it, while helping them to focus on those areas which warrant further attention.
Monitoring and evaluation An essential part of the programme has been to monitor and evaluate its impact on pupil outcomes in developing social, emotional and behavioural skills and the subsequent impact of this on raising attainment.
The continuing professional development modules are intended to support schools in developing staff confidence and skills around behaviour and attendance.
The Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning material provided by the DCSF is supported in schools and through workshops.
The Manchester Anti-bullying Policy and Practice Network aims to bring together a range of partners to co-ordinate citywide strategy for schools and other education providers. This supports the delivery of the outcomes from Every Child Matters and Safeguarding Children to create a safe environment for learning.
Positive Lunch times are supported in schools and through courses by Manchester's Diversity and Inclusion Team. Lunchtime staffs share their good practice through their newsletters.
