Out of School 2008

Last year, the School of Art, through Jane Mc.Fadyan, and Manchester Authority, through myself, organised the first Authority-wide art exhibition, ‘Out of Schools’. A large number of schools (51) took advantage of this unique opportunity to exhibit young people’s artwork in one of the largest art colleges in the country. I am pleased to announce that this event is to be offered to Manchester’s schools for a second year.

Details of dates and how to submit work can be found at:

http://www.artdes.mmu.ac.uk/engagement/out/

During the period of the exhibition there will be opportunities for yourselves and your students to visit the exhibition and attend workshops. Please keep an eye on the website to obtain details of these. Although there were limited opportunities to visit and participate last year, all who took part were overwhelmed with the quality, range and amount of work on display. Ian Middleton HMI gave a glowing report on the show.

An information pack will be coming to you very shortly from MMU with more details of the event, how your school can become involved and additional opportunities for CPD and engagement with MMU.
