The Renewed Mathematics Framework is different from the 1999 Framework in the following ways:

An electronic version

The most obvious difference is that the renewed Framework is an electronic version. The electronic format will allow you to link quickly to a wide range of teaching and learning resources, so that you can customise your planning, teaching and assessment more easily.

A clearer structure for mathematics

To simplify the structure of the objectives, seven strands of learning in mathematics are identified. These give a broad overview of the mathematics curriculum in the primary phase. The objectives are aligned to the seven strands to demonstrate progression in each strand.

Slimmed-down objectives

Another key difference is that objectives in the 1999 Framework for mathematics have been slimmed down to give a clearer sense of the important aspects of mathematics that need to be taught to children.
