SparkleBox Website: As stated earlier this term, Manchester Children's Services and MEWAN are continuing to monitor the situation in relation to the SparkleBox website. CEOP continue to have concerns regarding the associated SparkleBox Toolbar. As such a decision has been made to block access to SparkleBox again. This block applies to all MEWAN connected school sites. Non-MEWAN connected schools should consider whether SparkleBox should be blocked by your local Cache Box or request that your ISP block access.
It is very important that if you have installed the SparkleBox Toolbar you remove it immediately from all machines in school.

Alternative Websites to SparkleBoxThere are many websites that provide resources for schools to support the curriculum - we try to list many of them here on MEWAN (Look in the MEWAN Learning Centre and MEWAN Link Centre). Additionally - the following websites have been recommended as potential alternatives to SparkleBox for schools looking for online or downloadable learning materials:
- http://primaryschoolteaching.co.uk/ - This site claims to host all the same resources as SparkleBox for use under the same copyright restrictions.
- http://www.tes.co.uk/resourcehub.aspx - resources gathered and shared by readers of the TES.
- http://www.nen.gov.uk/ - The National Education Network brings together online learning resources from many different sources. All are cleared for use within schools for learning activities.
- http://www.primaryresources.co.uk/ - Huge collection of online materials that have been collected over many years by this long-standing and popular website.
