SEN Additional Resource Applications

|

From September 2010 new arrangements will be in place for schools applying for additional resources for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). These arrangements were discussed with SENCOs and Headteachers who attended the SENCO network meetings in July 2010.

The new system includes an alternative to statutory assessments and statements, which we hope will be quicker and more responsive.

You will be aware that funding for most pupils with SEN is delegated to schools to enable the development of appropriate SEN provision. The new system will enable schools to request additional resources from the local authority for pupils with high levels of need i.e. where provision over and above what can be provided by a school’s delegated budget is required. Matching Provision to Need (MPN) tools were developed some time ago, which set out the levels of need that schools are expected to meet from their delegated budget and those that require additional resources from the Local Authority.

The application form should be downloaded, completed and returned to the Statutory Assessment Team 1st floor Universal Square, Devonshire Street North, Manchester, M12 6JH. together with the documents indicated on the checklist.

If you require further information or help with this process please contact the Statutory Assessment Team on 0161 245 7439.
